Proposed Life Plan Community Moves Forward
For Immediate Release
Commack, NY – Fountaingate Gardens, the proposed Life Plan Community (also known as Continuing Care Retirement Community) to be built in Commack, took a large step toward final approval at the recent Huntington Town Board meeting. On July 12, the Town Board voted unanimously to approve the Change of Zone Application on the land for the project, which allows Fountaingate Gardens to begin the next step of the process.
Prior to the Town Board’s approval, the Huntington Planning Board and the Suffolk County Planning Commission also voted unanimously to recommend approval of the change in zoning.
“We are thrilled by the strong support we’ve seen from the community,” said Herbert H. Friedman, Executive Vice President/CEO of Gurwin, the project’s not-for-profit sponsor. “We’re excited for Long Island seniors to have the opportunity to experience life-enriching services and exciting and engaging amenities, along with the proven Gurwin continuum of care, all of which will be offered on one beautifully designed campus.”
The zoning approval was required as the property for Commack’s future Life Plan Community was originally a farm, and zoned as agricultural.
Fountaingate Gardens’ Charter Club, an exclusive group made up of future residents, already boasts more than 140 members.
“People are enthusiastic about the lifestyle available at Fountaingate Gardens,” said Susan Foley, Acting Director of Sales and Marketing. “It’s a joy to work with so many active, engaging people who are seizing this opportunity and deciding that now is the time to focus on what’s most important – creating a positive future for themselves and their families.”
