FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GURWIN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM BEGINS WORK ON
FOUNTAINGATE GARDENS INDEPENDENT LIVING COMPLEX
Infrastructure Renovations Mark Next Step in Creating a
Full Spectrum Life Plan Community on Long Island
Commack, NY (June 10, 2020) – Gurwin Healthcare System has begun preliminary site work on construction of Fountaingate Gardens independent living complex on its Commack campus. The addition of Fountaingate Gardens, a 10-acre, 129-apartment community for residents 62 years and over, will create only the fourth Life Plan Community on Long Island, and the only one centrally and conveniently located in Western Suffolk County.
The proposed community recently hosted a drive-by event for its Founders Club members (those who have already placed a deposit on a residence) to celebrate the infrastructure renovations. More than 35 Founders drove through the campus to view the latest construction updates, where they were greeted by staff, raffle prizes, music and a complimentary “dinner to go.” Drivers had the opportunity to speak with Stuart B. Almer, President and CEO of the Gurwin Healthcare System, and view the construction site, all from the safety of their vehicles.
“This is really exciting,” said Bonnie Soman, a Fountaingate Gardens Founders Club member. “I’m so thrilled to see things are finally moving! We can’t wait to move into our new home.”
Gurwin recently received Town of Huntington approval allowing infrastructure work to commence. Groundbreaking for the project is expected in the fall 2020.
“We’re so pleased that work has begun on our Fountaingate Gardens community,” said Almer. “Gurwin is well-known for its innovative approach to providing all levels of care for seniors on Long Island. Compassion, clinical excellence, and state-of-the-art facilities have cemented our reputation as the health care community of choice for seniors in the New York area. That reputation of excellence now extends to a new lifestyle option for active, independent older adults on Long Island.”
Located on Gurwin’s 34-acre Commack campus, just minutes from highway access, Fountaingate Gardens will have a charming, village-like ambience offering a dynamic lifestyle for residents. Dining venues, a fitness center, social gathering areas, and numerous other appealing amenities will be conveniently located just a few steps from each residence. Winding paths will meander through landscaped grounds, and a winding, bubbling brook will create a scenic oasis for residents to enjoy.
Residences in the new community will be located in two elegant building styles and may be customized to each resident’s preference. The project is already almost 65% sold, with some of the most popular floor plans nearly or completely unavailable.
Gurwin will also hold Virtual Lunch & Learn sessions for interested residents on June 24 and 26. To speak with a Senior Lifestyle Consultant at Fountaingate Gardens, call 631-715-2693, or email fountaingategardens@gurwin.org. For more information, visit www.FountaingateLI.org.
Fountaingate Gardens is a proposed not-for-profit Life Plan Community, also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC that will be located on Long Island, NY. The community is an extension of Gurwin Healthcare System, adding independent living to current offerings that include assisted living, skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation, among other services. Fountaingate Gardens is a community for seniors who want to continue their active, independent lifestyle without the burden of home ownership and with the added security of knowing a full continuum of care is available on-site.
